I am a South Korean sound artist, Pansori performer and researcher. My practice connects Korean traditional music and musicology with electronic sound, audiovisual performance and interactive media.
Working with field recordings, rhythmic cycles and the performing body, I explore how sound carries memory—and how listening transforms an environment into a place we know.

Pansori performance moves between narrative voice, embodied gesture, gayageum and live looping.
The Seokgwan-dong campus of the Korea National University of Arts becomes a musical instrument. Field recordings are reworked through Korean rhythmic structures into an electronic soundscape. Moving through the building’s sonic “floors,” the work explores how memory and listening turn shared space into personal place.

Listen to Salome An interdisciplinary research performance developed through workshops in theatre, dance and stage design. Traditional instruments meet live looping, MIDI and electronic synthesis in a reimagining of Pansori. Voice and movement open questions around gender, rhythm and the body within a collective, multisensory process.

A traditional invocation of blessing is reimagined through electroacoustic sound. Jajinmori and Pansori phrasing shape a musical structure in which voice, gayageum and percussion meet keyboard, effects and synthesis. The work brings the communal energy of binari into club sound and contemporary performance.

Music and sound design for a theatrical work built around three uncanny stories of beings born underwater. Rhythms from Seungmu, a Korean traditional dance, are transformed into electronic beats, live looping and 25-string gayageum. The layered score moves between traditional musical structures and imagined aquatic worlds.

A collaboration between Korean and Montréal-based artists, developed through APE CAMP and supported by Arts Council Korea. The project explores how pronunciation and cultural context transform the sounds of language. Its title draws on the “e” sounds in the artists’ names, each carrying a different resonance across voices and places.
Audiovisual performance with Crazy Radio · Eui-Jin Kim
A human-scale salon performance for international audiences, bringing together Pansori Simcheongga, Joseon-era hospitality, artist conversation and traditional-instrument experience in a 40-seat setting shaped by natural acoustics.

I explore how the vocal, rhythmic, and embodied structures of Pansori can be translated into real-time audiovisual systems using sensors and wearable technologies.
Pansori is a Korean narrative singing tradition in which voice, rhythm, gesture and audience response are closely connected. My research asks how these relationships can inform expressive musical interfaces.
I am developing methods for collecting and interpreting vocal, rhythmic and movement data, and exploring mappings for live sound and visuals through physical computing and TouchDesigner.
